The conference will focus on innovative ways to sustain and improve economic growth in the American South in the face of globalization, technological shifts and geopolitical uncertainty.

Tom DeFrank, bureau chief of the New York Daily News will headline the conference as the featured luncheon speaker on Thursday, April 17, 2008. Prior to joining the New York Daily News, he was Newsweek’s senior White House correspondent for a quarter century. His work has been praised by publications such as The New York Times, which ranked him as one of the best political ghostwriters.
